Bloom Recruitment is in search of an experienced Warehouse Lead to join our client's team immediately.

Our client is one of North America's largest agriculture businesses, supplying fresh produce to major grocery retailers around the world. They are in the middle of a massive growth spurt: five new facilities have just gone up on site, multiple teams are being hired, and there has never been a better time to get in the door. This is a company that promotes from within; in fact, this seat is open because the previous Lead was just promoted.

The role oversees shipping and receiving operations, working alongside two other Leads to supervise a team of 6-8 tenured warehouse associates. It is largely office based, with time on the warehouse floor for quality control, problem solving and support as needed, roughly 80:20. It is a leadership role, but not a hierarchy. This is a no-ego environment where everyone is treated with respect and kindness, and the best Leads here lead by example.

Responsibilities

Shipping and Receiving

Arrange outbound shipments, including bills of lading, invoices and all supporting documentation.
Inspect and verify incoming product against invoices, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
Load and unload as required, and organize contractor crews for container work and disposal of spoiled product.
Ensure incoming and outgoing product meets specification, and flag quantity discrepancies to Logistics and Sales.

Inventory and Food Safety

Maintain cooler inventory accuracy through cycle counts and aged inventory checks, and partner with Accounting to resolve discrepancies.
Advise Sales on aging product and inventory levels.
Keep Food Safe logs current, follow PTI traceability on receiving, and prepare the cooler and warehouse for QA audits.
Complete warehouse checklists and keep paperwork moving between Operations and other departments.

Leadership and Operations

Supervise and support the loaders and unloaders on your shift, with safety as the standard.
Train shippers, receivers, lead hands and peers as requested.
Work with the Grading Managers to forecast supply and product requirements and keep pack shed capacity up.
Inspect equipment, submit maintenance work orders, and help the Warehouse Manager build SOPs and improve how shipping and receiving runs.

Requirements

2-3 years in a shipping, receiving or warehouse role, ideally with lead hand or supervisory responsibility.
Forklift experience; stand-up forklift experience is a strong asset.
A solid understanding of food safety and quality control.
Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills, with the calm to keep a busy dock running smoothly.
Analytical, detail oriented, and comfortable in Excel, Word and Outlook.
A valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle.

Nice to have

Experience in fresh produce, cold chain or another perishable environment.
Experience with a maintenance work order system or an ERP.

Key details

Location: Delta, BC.
Weekly Schedule: Monday to Saturday, 5 days per week. Sundays off, with the second day off staggered.
Shift Times: 5:00 AM, 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM start times, rotating biweekly.
Compensation: $28 per hour + 5-10 hours of weekly overtime during the 10:00 AM closing rotation.
Vehicle: Required. The site is not accessible by public transit.
Environment: The warehouse is a cold environment; the office is slightly below room temperature.
